The new 2MT on running in duty. This Bachmann loco comes with shorter gap alternate tender hook. Sometimes, tried & tested older materials are still as good as any other. Go into any serious model shop & you will find all manner of track bases, plasti-card materials & so on. Our track is laid on hessian & cork. Lots of the detailing on the locos & buildings is card & balsa. Before adding detail, I like to see as many pics of the loco in real life. Just a simple thing like the doors between the loco & tender were always wearing out, so were replaced at where ever the loco happened to be. Some had plain hinges, some were concertina and hinged from the tender side. All to be found on the same class of loco.
