Hi all & thank you Annewiggy Wave Since Coventry no longer has a racecourse, it closed over eighty years ago, I might have an afternoon at Warwick, on Tuesday. Warwick racing. Senior tickets can be purchased on the day for £10 Full dining etc can be had at the course if you feel like spending on luxury, but Warwick town has many good quality pubs & so on. Whilst I am being a bit cynical about "luxury", in recent weeks, friends of mine have paid out a lot more for sporting entertainments. For me, the excitement is the teamwork between the horse & the rider. Sadly there are sad occurrences, no different to anywhere else. I love horses. If I was an artist, I would paint them. A majestic animal that deserves respect. As a child in the forties & fifties, horses were an everyday part of most our lives in Coventry. Growing up in Wyken, our milk, bread & greengroceries all arrived by horse. The X18 Coventry to Stratford, passes the racecourse in both directions, which departs from outside the Coventry motor museum. An improving weather scenario might make for a good afternoon. Wave

Hi all Wave My journey into the wilderness this morning took me here where I enjoyed a coffee & cheese scone. Very nice Happy There is so much to see that it requires several visits, as I concentrate on the Rugby area.

Ah, I was on the right line then, literally, but a few stops further on. That old bridge is very similar.

pixrobin Absolutely mesmerised with those pictures, I have seen nothing of Coventry I used to know, but must be a great modern town to live in, thank you.

It was my first time for a trip to Stoneleigh. As a youngster I passed through it a number of times on a Midland Red bus going to Leamington. Here are 3 photos you may be interested in.
