Midland Red beat me to it! Smile Strictly speaking it was in Radford Road (later renamed St Columba's Close) and is now closed.

Yes that is the one thank you Midland Red and Dutchman I do recall the Radford Road before it was all changed even up from the Savoy how there used to be shops set back one was a fishing shop owned by my friend's parents the Cloughs and a little fish and chip shop set in the wall of Radford Road graveyard on the set back it was like a hut also I'm sure there were some further down where the flats are now too by the fire station. Hi there! I'm new to this site and to looking into historic Cov as well. I'm looking for any information on the Three Horseshoes pub located next to the fire station on the Foleshill Road. The first Three Horseshoes was a building a little further up the road I am told, next to a blacksmith. This was when the area was called Little Heath I think. I would like any info, maps and especially any photographs of the pub and surrounding houses through the years. Thanks for your help!

It's good to know that it hasn't been demolished....... but an ice-cream and coffee shop/convenience store..... with plastic signs....what a shame!

It's a lot better than losing another landmark! A lot of inter-war pubs that have fallen into disuse here have been taken over by Tesco as Tesco Express outlets. And Tesco hasn't done any great harm to the facades, fortunately (so Tesco isn't all bad! Wink ), so again, better than losing them altogether.

I'm researching my family history, and according to the 1901 Coventry census, my great, great uncle, Albert John Warner was a licensed victualler at 27 Cross Cheaping, but the pub name wasn't recorded. Does anyone know which pub it would have been please?

Question

I've just found it myself in the Coventry Pubs 1912 history listing on this website. It was the Fountain. Before 1912 it had changed hands, and a Chas. J. Davis had taken over. Was the Fountain destroyed by bombing during the Second World War, and does anyone remember it?
