This one, at least I think it's a no entry sign? There are other clues as well in the big picture on Steve's site such as the woman cycling up the 'wrong side' of the street.

By the fashions I think it was the early 50s. Does Timpsons shoe shop, just behind the bus, give any clues?

This postcard from the 1940s shows that there were only three bus shelters/stops at that time where the temporary shops would be built, so perhaps at the time the no.9 was in front of the flower-beds

In the 1960s I used to travel by bus from Hillfields to my place of work in Earlsdon. The number 9 bus was the one I got in the City centre and it went from outside Holy Trinity ,by the flower beds. Thumbs up

The full image appears to show a Standard 8 (second car down) which would date the photo no earlier than 1953

Between the bus and the moped, her head level with the shop awning: LINK There is also a dearth of traffic and parked cars in the lower part of the street suggesting the one-way system had already been introduced.

Sorry D, got the wrong woman. Can i just say, when did the council stop the parking in the centre of the road? The cars to the left are definatley parked in the middle. I would say somewhere around eight minutes past one in the afternoon in the 1950s. Thumbs up

Isn't she heading for Broadgate, on the correct side of the road, with the "central parking" vehicles to her right?

The stop on the right of the picture bares the words "All Passengers Alight Here". Before 1955, this was the City Terminus for in-bound Service 21 from Bell Green. The outward service boarded on the West side of Broadgate, near to Broadgate House. In 1955, Service 22 to Purcell Road began and it used the same stop as its in-bound terminus. In 1956, Service 22 was extended southwards to Willenhall and the annotation on the stop was changed to "Willenhall" as shown here. Service 20 stopped at the stop on the left of the picture labelled "STATION". This was also the in-bound terminus for the Service 20 short service to Longford. After 1956, Service 21 still terminated outside Holy Trinity, but it seemed to stop at whatever point was convenient. Often there were several buses stopped there at the same time. Note that the shop adjoining Timothy Whites in the picture is H Samuel. The upshot of this is that it must have been before 1956.
