The 1901 and 1911 censuses show her living at 6 house 29 court Much Park Street. She died in 1965. I can't trace her in the 1939 register.

Yes, Neil. Miss Cotton would be behind the slightly taller brick building. Thumbs up [corrected]

"The 1901 and 1911 censuses show her living at 6 house 29 court Much Park Street. She died in 1965. I can't trace her in the 1939 register." Update... 1939, she's shown at 4 house 29 court MPS (as "infirm"), living with her mother and stepfather. She would perhaps have moved to the house in court 30 after they passed away.

This from 1905.This is the map that threw me in regards to the picture of the timber building Neil last posted. If you go upwards from the top right corner of the dotted line in Court 29 you come to the division of two buildings. There should be another division in the building to the right as part of that is the other half of the timber building and only the right hand side is the taller brick building.

Not sure if this will work for everyone but the Historic Coventry Trust are finally renovating Whitefriars Gatehouse and some interesting footage here of the timbers with the roof off!

Thanks, Neil Thumbs up I hope that they manage to find a good use for the finished restoration. Did I hear that they were going to be holiday lets like the other gatehouses? I feel that Coventry doesn't make as good use of its historical treasures as it could. I don't know whether it has been changed in recent years but the Herbert's Coventry exhibition was very limited when I visited it. I would fear for the artworks if they were scattered about the city but good reproductions would serve the same job. There are many, many images of the gatehouse and Much Park Street, never mind the rest of the city. Why is there no decent celebration of that? It's like the city is so ashamed of what it's lost that it pretends it never had a history to lose.

Yes, it's going to be a holiday let, Helen - another one for you to stay in. Big grin I agree the Herbert is limited - there is a public consultation soon regarding the use of the former IKEA building to house some additional artworks, etc.
