Yes, it is. It's quite a nice condensed history of the city for those who don't have the Victoria History volume or other text books that have been written about Coventry.

A kind lady has been in touch with me to say that she has been left with a small pile of Coventry books, and to find out if I knew anyone interested. Well, I'm sure this is as good a place as anywhere to ask, so please peruse the list below, and if anyone would like them, please contact me using the button on the left, and I'll give you an email address and phone number so you can arrange something. The books are not in the Coventry area, so postage or travelling will need to be arranged.
Coventry at War (David McGrory)
Coventry City Centre Trail (Council booklet)
The Coventry we have Lost (David Fry & Albert Smith)
Coventry at War: A Pictorial Account 1939-45 (Alton Douglas)
Coventry in the 1930s and 40s (Deborah Keane)
Around Coventry in Old Photographs (David McGrory)
The City of Coventry: Images from the Past (David McGrory)
Haunted Coventry (David McGrory)
Coventry into the 70s Planning & Development (Coventry City Council) |

I'm always on the look out for books I haven't seen but can never remember what I've got. I'm fairly sure that I haven't seen Coventry in the 30s and 40s. I probably won't be back until the end September so if someone else wants it sooner, I'm happy to miss out. Even the Heritage weekend isn't until September. So if you've still got it and some of David McGrory's books by then I'll be grateful to give them a new home. |

In case you're still interested Helen, or anyone else, the lady has told me that she'd be willing to send books individually if someone would just like one or two but not the lot.
Please contact me if you'd like one, and I'll put you in touch with her. |

I'm trying to locate a book about Coventry history that I read, of all places, in my chiropractor's waiting room. The book was a large paperback, magazine sized, plain white front, with a line drawing of (possibly the old cathedral) on the front. Alas, the title escapes me. I'm positive I had it on my Amazon wish list but can find no trace of it online now. Does anyone know which book I am talking about? Planning on popping into the central library this evening to try and track it down... either that, or I need to make an appointment at the chiropractor haha! Question |

I think it was mostly writing and sketches. It looked almost as if it had been self-published. Argh, so annoying! I can picture it, but not the title or author! |

It looks close but I don't remember there being any colour on the front, it was all black... seem to think it had "old english" type font. That book looks interesting too though! Will add that one to my wishlist.
Pretty sure there were poems and various pieces in there about historical events... |

Aha - I've managed to find it. "Coventry - Echoes of the past" by Frank Roden. Seems to be out of print. Did try and add the url but it made a mess Thanks for trying to help though, it jogged my memory!

I've started mooching through the archaeology books and came across City of Coventry Archaeology and development by Margaret Rylatt. Haven't read it in depth but it contains a map with some of Shelton's excavations marked on, as described in the articles Rob kindly reproduced. |
