What do you think the number is of the property? I have found a 'Raleigh Electric Co', at rear of 96 Lower Ford Street in 1934. A bit later in 1939, the same company at 57 Lower Ford Street. Just wondering, I also see 'Dagenham's' cropping up, it sort of fits in, could it be..... 'Dagenham's Electrical Car Lighting and Specialist Accumulator Manufacturers'? As if it's an Advert for the items they stock in the shop? Don't know......

It's 57. The numbering system in that part of the street is quite convoluted.

I stand corrected, there are three number 55. Albeit the last one has a B on it. The other one was an office for a builders with a flat above it and the first one a Post Office.

I would just like to mention there was a battery manufacturer in Coventry called Dagenite in the 50s, their factory was on the Foleshill Road just before Cash's Lane. The word is very close to Dagenham I wonder?

Funny how one bit of one's memory leads you into research that you would never have dreamed of doing on a Sunday afternoon. Dagenite batteries were made by a company called Peto and Radford, a London based company who started life making Accumulators, Ammeters, Spark plugs, Aircraft batteries and Car batteries. They would have had an affinity with what was going on in Coventry re Cars and Aircraft, I wonder if that is why they set up a production plant here.

Thanks Herberts lad. That's exactly what I enjoy, researching one thing and it leads you down another path! I am sure between us all, we shall solve Midland Red's poser Thumbs up There was also the 'Radenite' battery maker just past the General Wolfe on the left hand side going towards Longford, by Wilson's Meters.

A nice collection MR. The last one of Nestle overlays another but I can't read it all. It looks like "M----- --ss your Bable You can't get ..." A ghost of a ghost message.
