Thanks Helen/themods. Wave Annes picture below from the Mystery churches thread shows a cleared view over Spicerstoke besides Holy Trinity. Obviously taken much later - Butcher Row etc. all cleared but the view east along Spicerstoke with the Gulson Library. The building on the very right with the two figures is the other side of the one posted earlier in this thread - which had the Derby Lane road sign pinned to it. Even the tree is there Big grin Forum library image

Has anyone found more Spicerstoke info? One small bit I found is that there was a Johnsons Solicitors. There must be a database somewhere with this kind of stuff on, not something I am skilled in though.

I have to admire the foresight of the artist who captured this view as - at the time - it must have been impossible to comprehend just how interesting and important it would be to us a hundred years later. Thumbs up

These things might (not specifically that one) come in useful when/if we start to do what Germany did in the 1980s - reconstruct. A lot of that was done with old postcards and photos.

Another nice picture Smile I wish there were discrete markings on the ground, there are various City Wall markers which I'm sure everybody knows about, but also some marking out Spicerstoke, Butcher Row, the top of old Cross Cheaping and start of old Broadgate (I call it Vaults Corner now, as it is by the corner of Primark) etc. etc. Or indicators of covered buildings such as Gulson Library etc.
