Yes certainly I remember the milk bottles and having to carry the crates of milk to the classrooms as well. Also the Christmas carol concert and nativity play followed by classroom parties. Shame we have to grow up.

Just remembered another teacher, Mrs.Gallagher, who taught the eleven year olds. Memories too of the May Procession, which teachers organised. We would rehearse the walking and strewing rose petals. With the attendants chosen, the May Queen was always a girl with long hair. Wink

My daughter learnt to swim courtesy of St Osburgs. They used to hold classes on Saturdays with very small groups, unfortunately they stopped before my son could go owing to legal changes in the number of lifeguards required.

I remember the may procession. I also remember the country dancing which I really liked. Also I remember going to Livingstone baths for swimming lessons though I still can't swim to this day.

I too went to Livvy baths. Then I caught chicken pox, was off school for three weeks and had my lessons cancelled. I too still cannot swim.

I once had the ruler off Mr Branney, the Head. And Father Paul was the parish priest who would sit and talk to us.

I too had the ruler for going up to Mr. Daly to get my maths marked. What was that about!!!! Kids today are so lucky. I am racking my brains trying to remember the father that came in to us from the church next door.

Headmaster was Mr Branny, not sure how it was spelt. My sister was there from 1953, I was there from 1963. He was still there then.

I went to St Osburgs from 1952 to 1958 Lots of 'big' boys and girls in the playground No secondary schools then 50 to a class, split by half years, playground packed Great teachers, some a bit fierce Can't complain as I was a bit of a ruffian
