Earls Court is shown on Rob's 1914 Map just off Much Park Street as discussed.

'Leofric Paints', what a great company logo (office in The Butts but works in Much Park Street).

Forum library image This is 43/44, it was on the east side of MPS just before the road curved to the east.

This one is labelled as MPS '50's but I'm struggling to locate its position - anyone?

Hi Neil, hope that you're doing ok. Wave The location is the lower end of MPS, the east west section about half way along. North side. The arch on the left is the entry to courts 13 and 14. The next arch also served 13 and 14 as there was no divide between the two courts.

That's right Neil. I'm not badly off for images of the north side but I have proper gaps on the south. The bit where the school was built. A gap between the Lord Rodney and the buildings on the corner of Short Street. I've got an idea what Short Street replaced only via a very distant sketch and the map but I'd love a better image. I've got a rough news paper photo of the corner with St John's Street but I think that they're too new for my project. Still, better than a kick in the shins.

Sounds interesting Neil, what does BFA stand for? Everything I tried didn't seem right. Smile

Mr P was driving a coach and four spirited horses down Earl Street, when the coach ran foul of a cart near Palace Yard, and Mr P, who was a short man and used a stool on the footboard, was pitched off, the horses bolted, tried to turn MPS corner, threw the coach over. The wheels went through the windows of Mr Worcester's grocery shop to the consternation of those inside. The coach lay on its side, the inside passengers were let out by the top door, and no one was seriously hurt. I think there was much concern before the war that there were so many wooden buildings, stables etc, plus a cardboard factory in the MPS area that it was discussed, but little was done, in the way of sand and water, until it was to late, but did it get in the CET? I have no idea.

Duh Roll eyes I'm stupid. I've been through every Coventry BFA photo and the south of the city is poorly served. There are a couple of fuzzy photos looking north but nothing looking south. I might have missed something - sometimes you get an unexpected view on the edge of a photo centred on another area - but I doubt it. The one good photo is after they knocked the relevant stretch down. Sigh. I have got pictures of a few of the courts which is helpful. The same with St John Street. Why aren't the photos of the front available?

You're right, Helen, it's sooooo annoying and massively frustrating when sections of Cov are missed by everything. This is about the best I could see on BFA - you can see that row from the above here.

Yes, that's one of the best of the north side - you can see the row in you photo. There's a fuzzier one of the section to the left and the backs of the south side. Sadly that photo is very poor. Still, I've been convinced that there are no more gems out there and then you or someone else posts some. Thumbs up Last year I struck a few seams of gold looking at the slum clearance and health report photos around the city. My next target has to be any industrial collections because they swept up a lot of properties to build the factories. The archiving doesn't always recognise that there are unique images amongst a big collection. This shows MPS and St John Street but is quite poor. Looking from the south towards the city
