Hi, this is just about all I have on East Street and Day's Lane. I hope I haven't duplicated.
On one image, the Oswins ALL, I think they have missed out Benjamin Oswin.

That was Silvera's the bakers in previous image.
The next image should be East Street in its entirety. |

Thanks for the information Heathite it's interesting to see how the business premises changed from 1935 to the 60s apart from my parents shop which was still a beer retailer in 1935 the reason we think it was a former bakery is that when we went back after we had moved and the vandals had moved in they had removed a fibre board wall in what we used as a kitchen which revealed a very large coal fired oven there was a loft above this which led us to believe that it could have been a flour store hence the bakery theory. |

Thank you for the Coronation Road pictures. My great-grandmother, my grandparents and many people that I recall as very old in the 1960s are listed there. |

I find the "court 3" below 102 East Street very interesting this was entered via the entry way next to my parents shop but all I can remember it being was an over grown pile of bricks at the end with a pathway to the rear of other houses in the street I don't know if the buildings were bombed or demolished and just left as the entry was the only access to them so the only way to remove the rubble would have been a wheelbarrow so that's another childhood mystery solved cheers Heathite. |

The Silvera's ended up running a grocery store in those premises. |

Hi Heathite. I have noticed that the above pic shows categories. Are there any categories for Grocers/Fruiterers at that time as both my Great Grandparents and 2x Great Grandparents had this occupation. Many thanks DebbieA

The cottages were condemned by the council and demolished some time after 1948 after being left derelict for several years. The land belonged to a neighbouring foundry and was used for storage by them.
