The building in original picture on the corner of Burlington Road used to be a newsagents/sweet shop, if you look closely of google maps you can see the bottom half is newer brickwork. I was born in Burlington Road in the late 50's and I used to buy my sweets here on my way to school.

Hi Greg - isn't it annoying I've done the same in the past, and just had another look It appears to me that the important part - the name - has been painted on at least twice - if you look at the far right, there's clearly an S but next to it, in different type, is another, less clear, S from a previous painting The start of the name is virtually illegible, but I think it could end in UNDERS - I've look for Saunders but with no luck The words across the bottom are SIMULATOR MANUFACTURERS, and above that is . . . . . SPECIALISTS Thanks for your efforts, much appreciated! Cheers

Just to put the cat among the pigeons. To me it looks like Accumulator Manufacturer which would tie in with the car lighting. The A is right near the end of the wall.

Hi scrutiny. I have been watching the progress of this, and after studying it personally I am pretty sure it says "IGNITION SPECIALISTS". What is your opinion? Thumbs up

I think you are right about Ignition Norm. Each time you look you can see something different. Thumbs up In the Grace's guide I can find no manufacturer 1912-13 for that kind of electrical work in Lower Ford St. I am almost sure that shop or the one next to it used to sell art work or similar in the late 50s/early 60s.
