It was still there in 1995. It's now the site of a multi-storey car park.

It's the patch of scrub land all the workmen are on at the moment isn't it Dutchman? Or are they going to build a multi-storey?
Cov Council are the only taker I know of so far at the development |

It was demolished in order to make way for a development called 'Park Court' - which was a terrible development, really.
This report is from 2004 when it was being demolished. Wow, 10 years ago!

My mistake Neil, I thought we were talking about the Labour Exchange in New Union Street. |

Here's a map showing the National Express bus diversions
I remember (just) the days when you could get from the stationon to Broadgate by driving up Warwick Rd and Hertford St. Now you have to drive on a scenic tour of the city. |

^^^ The aerial photo up there shows how much land is 'left over' as part of these sorts of roads... Usually land that no one can do anything with.
mcsporran, in the English Heritage report I mentioned elsewhere, the authors also - surprisingly - consider that excessive pedestrianisation needs to be 'challenged' and there was a case for re-opening up parts of the city centre to improve access for cars. I found this an interesting comment - and also quite the opposite of what is happening.

Where do you think that's filmed from Deano? It's only a bit of it but I never actually thought I'd see the ringroad going! Will be interested to see the results. |
