Another sign of autumn, Fly Agaric, obviously not for eating. Autumn had its special treats though. We used to collect mushrooms around Waste Lane, fantastic for breakfast. Combe Abbey for conkers.

Had a fleeting visit by our Goldcrest this morning. It always enjoys a nice bath but never keeps still, but got a couple of snaps. I think the second one is an impersonation of Donald Trump and his golden barnet.

This was the view from my window a couple of months ago, now the sparrows, robins, blackbirds and others have made themselves scarce.

Full cloud on Monday night so I missed out on the "supermoon" - but this was bright this morning at 7.25
At 2.25 this afternoon our goldfinches arrived - only to find their favourite birdtable dismantled due to the presence of a certain garden pest which has been around for a few days This one looked down on our lawn with disdain from next door's tree

We're used to seeing vapour trails overhead, but this one this afternoon was, we thought, unusual

Yes that is unusual - I looked online and think it's a 'distrail' / dissipation trail (see wikipedia link). |

And now for something completely different
This was the second of two Allely's transporters conveying former London Underground 1967-stock carriages past our windows about 20 minutes ago

When I looked out this morning, and saw this . . .
. . . it was hard to remember that, three and a half years ago, it looked like this
Well done, Mrs Red
