The University has tapes of interviews by Kenneth Richardson and whilst some of these are digitised, none are transcribed. I'm wondering whether there's a interest in a project to make the set available and with transcripts? b p kyneswood

Hi Ben. Have the recordings been run though voice recognition? It might do some of the work. Alternatively it might create something worse than starting from scratch. Someone who was good with voice to text could listen to the recordings and talk it in, rather than try to type it all?
I'd offer but I'm still up to my eyeballs working out the locations of the kid's sketches. As in the email I sent you. |

I'm sure that would contain some interesting material Ben but for wider appeal and to attract more interest I'd say 'pictures speak more than a thousand words' - in that photographic collections will always appeal more to a wider audience - as a priority. |

Thanks both
Helen, I'm sure the library has looked into voice recognition and other automated systems. The tapes are in pretty poor condition from the sounds of it, so perhaps your second suggestion is something I'll suggest.
Neil, you're right but I'm looking at connecting data - in the way Cov Atlas had images on a map - and giving people something more. I figured, because of post-war Coventry being reasonably documented, these tapes might offer particular insight alongside images.
