Hello, good afternoon, evening & anytime else.
I, we, I, well I, often comment about eating out in Coventry & the surrounding area. Most of us familiar with our breakfast meetings, coffee at the Belgrade or wherever.
I've expressed delight several times regards several of our Coventry pubs, whether just for a booze or meals, the convenience of Coventry market cafe & so on.
I've another to add, but I just wondered if as many of us as possible could make accurate, but polite comments about our experiences. Remember, just like me, most traders can have a bad one off day, so please try to use good experiences to help each other.
My latest addition, which I've now sampled twice is the Walsgrave Stonehouse.
My roast turkey carvery today, was beautiful. That lot with the wine around £11.
Earlier in the week, I enjoyed a roast beef carvery. I had turkey today just for the test, Turkey not my fondest roast, but it was delightful.

Hi Anne,
I just wanderer in, middle of Saturday. I cannot do test on Sunday as I'm tied up with chapel commitments, but having tried it during the week, as perfect as it can get.
I tested my phone out using Google maps to see if it would warn me of impending changes from walking to bus, change bus, walking & so on. That was fun. I was shown to my dinner table, whereupon my phone told me that I had arrived. An old fogey let loose with hi-tech hey.
It went off on the bus, telling me to get off at the next stop!

I have just looked for Stonehouse round here as I like a meat and 2 veg meal but a lot of places only do them on Sundays. I have found a couple, so might try one. The prices don't look too bad either. Wish I had known on Thursday. We did go for a meal for that celebration that you did not mention which was not too bad, but we actually pass a Stonehouse on the way. |

Just realised I used to go dancing at the Walsgrave. A group called Jigsaw played frequently there. They made a record some time later called Sky High |

Hi all,
I'm not going to post pics all of the time, otherwise we will look like an illuminated MacDonald sign board.
Today I enjoyed the most beautiful dressed salad. Loaded with top quality bacon & chicken, that was scrumptious. That was at Cafe Italia, who are also currently my favourite ice cream cafe.
My favourite for an English conventional dry salad, for want of a better description, is the Boat pub in Shilton Lane.
So you've arrived home, on this beautiful of days & fancy a pudding.
Recipe -;
One dish. A blob of ice cream out of your freezer.
Stick one half of a Twirl in it.
Eat.
The other stick of Twirl do likewise for your best friend.
Two puds for £1. |

Hi all, Hi Neil,
I like the Walsgrave Carvery because I can get there in the dry, when it's wet, me limited to public transport, although with all the parking uhar in Coventry, the bus is often very convenient.
Just look at that!
The bus shelter immediately outside. Perfect for a wet & windy day.
I love the Boat, but they have restricted opening times. |

Hello,
Today has seen me enjoy a really nice carvery, at the Coventry Toby, or Craven Arms, Binley.
Definitely a mark up on previous venue reviews, but the price reflects that. Exceptionally good value. Good food isn't cheap!
It's well laid out, very convenient bus service. The staff are bubbly & welcombing.
Another feature (possibly not at season times), is the bar & drinking area.
Pauline adorned my lunch time. She had no idea of this review post until my meal had disappeared.
A very pleasant lunch time.
ps. I won't need to call in the Meggachippy. |
