You've got me stumped there, Adrian - I grew up around Browns Lane and I can't place this photo - where exactly is/was it? Oh my

Blimey! I havent seen one of those since the 50's There used to be one at the bottom of Quinton Parade in Cheylesmore. I'm sure it used to dispense "jubbly shaped" cartons of chilled milk and orange juice at 6d each, which always seemed rather expensive (at the time) for the amount you got! I spotted an old photo of Quinton Parade on Facebook the other day, with the machine just visible in the far distance, but can't find it now Sad

Hang about ! Let's rewind to the caption accompanying the photo on Facebook - it says "Anyone remember these ? There was one outside the dairy opposite the Jaguar on Browns Lane. Used to get an orange juice in a carton that was like a pyramid" So, the photo is NOT of the one outside Carvell's dairy on Browns Lane, but of a vending machine like the one that stood there No wonder I didn't recognise the photo ! Oh my Obviously we all need to read things a bit more carefully ! ! ! Thumbs up Nevertheless, the vending machine itself is a great find Cheers

Neither did I on first read, Adrian - and no, I won't delete the photo, as it's so interesting and represents part of Coventry's history since these did exist within our city Thumbs up

Hi Adrian, Hi all. Wave I like the photo too. There were several of these milk vending machines around the Courtaulds sites here in Coventry as well as elsewhere in the country. What did the cartons of milk cost? Wave

Hi Philip, As I mentioned above, the machines I recall sold these "jubbly like" cartons for 6d each. Way overpriced in my opinion!

Even my computers search facility (Ctrl+F) fails to find more than one mention of "Whitby" in this thread (in your post). Maybe someone could enlighten me as to where Adrian identified this photo as that location? Thumbs up

No worries Adrian - I was just really curious as to where/when you declared its location as Whitby when there is no mention of it in this thread prior to MR's post? I wondered whether something had been deleted or if I had missed a post that was so obvious I hadn't seen it! Smile
