I wonder if anyone has any images of two events.
Firstly, the laying up of the colours of the 1/7 Royal Warwicks' colours ahead of them embarking for France in 1940 at the Cathedral.
The mayor-making of Jack Moseley at the Guildhall in 1940.
I've searched around in vain. Living several hundred miles from my city means any chance of an easy search, popping into town, is not possible.
Many thanks in advance. Question |

That sounds a tough ask, Diesel74. There is a tranche of civic photos at Coventry Digital but they mostly seem to be from after the war. There may be something in the newspapers but that sort of thing is hard to find. It's free to search the online collection for something likely - you can see in the cameos if there is a photograph. It needs to be a biggish one though as the quality tends to be poor. If you find a few links then someone with access might pass anything to you that was what you were after. I had a quick look but nothing relevant came to light.

There doesn't appear to be anything in the BNA regarding the mayor making of John (Jack) Moseley. |

Hello Diesel74. Have you tried enquiring via the website of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment Museum at Warwick? It is now known as the Fusilier Museum, Warwick. They would surely have a copy of any photographs taken at the event. |

Thanks all. I haven't tried the Fusilier museum.
But I remember writing a piece when I was at the CET on this, which included a picture.
Who knows what got lost when Corporation Street was abandoned
Thanks again.

Annewiggy, thank you so very much. That's the image I recall. I think I wrote the story in 1990, so it would have been 50 years since they were rescued in the Blitz.
Brilliant. |
