There's a good picture of Arthur on the Coventrian community page of the Imperial War Museum's Lives of the First World War website

OL. Thanks for the photo's of the Arthur Hutt VC memorial. Do you have any names and age of the standard bearers? I have particular interest in the Parachute standard bearer.

Sorry Kaga I don't. I only found out about it from a chance conversation with someone I met while out walking. Next time I see him I'll ask him if he knows any names. Wave OL

OL, your pictures present a puzzle to me? One of the guys is wearing a Palestine ribbon, but not a WW2 ribbon, that means he was not in the Army before 1946. The British Army pulled out of Palestine in 1948 but stopped sending troops there in Sept 1947. The L.I.A.P route only ran from 1945 to 1948, did he use that route? The Regiment sent all Midlands men to the Midland Battalion, so I should have recognised him? The Regiment only used Tatton Park, Manchester, until 1946, so where did he train? The British Legion generally run these things, so there is no question that he earned the medal, just a jig-saw puzzle to me.

Hi Kaga, well at least I've given you something to think about. Unfortunately I don't know the different ribbons. The only clue I can give you is that the flag bearer who told me about it mentioned he was in Aden, he's late sixties, early seventies and in shots from behind the memorial is nearest it on the left.

Hi all, An update in case it was missed. The Hutt family (and descendants) were able to hold the VC medal after it was discovered a few years ago. More here. Kind regards, Leanne
