The most important deliveries for me was the delivery of my comics, Adventure, Wizard, on monday, Hotspur on thursday, and Champion, on friday this was when living in Prince of Wales Road. Our newsagent was Evans in Grayswood Ave as I remember although I think Hawthorn on Allesley Old Road also delivered. |

There was an Ernie Hawthorn who ran the Newsagents, who also delivered Comics etc. at the corner of Sovereign Road and Melbourne Road, Earlsdon in the 1950/60's. A relation perhaps ? |

I recall the coal men Lenton & Bray sure they were either twins or brothers.
An advert here for "LENTON & BRAY"!
Bray started in Radford he lived on the corner of Rollason Rd and Catesby Rd and kept his lorry at the bottom of the garden the entrance being in Catesby
They had twin boys Peter and I can`t remember the name of the other one,

Hi all,
Just to add interest, a picture of the South Wales Corona factory, where our pop came from.
Please laugh. It closed as a carbonated drinks business over twenty years ago, but the building is now a POP song recording studio. Pop!!! |

Hi all,
Thank you for the picture & comment.
The Corona pop lorry coming once a fortnight (I think), the wooden four bottle crate, along with their distinctive spring pressure top, was so iconic. |

I used to love the Corona orangeade but I think it was mite expensive so we used to finish up with lemonade! The dandelion and burdock was nice too. |

My dad used to deliver for Corona in the mid fifties and, yes, we did get free pop. It might even have been a crate a week and the dandelion and burdock was popular at our house too.
Love the pop/pop reference, Phil. |
