William Beazley (sometimes spelled Baisley) served in the Horse Guards, 32nd Regiment for 20 years. He was born in H_____ley parish in the town of Coventry, Warwick, England about Apr 1787. Like many soldiers, he ended up in Halifax, NS, receiving his pension there. This is my wife's ancestor. William had a large family, and so did his children. He joined up at the age of 20 in Birmingham in 1807, and was discharged in 1826. I'd like to know anything interesting to you that you could tell me. I know nothing of Coventry. I've no clue what the parish name is (little research I did couldn't come up with what it is). Are there many Baisley/Beazley's from that town? Anyone descended from a Beazley?

Hi Joni, welcome to the forum Wave These are the parishes of Coventry and none of them fit your mystery place very well. The parishes cover a far larger area than Coventry itself because Coventry is the home of the bishop. There could well be some small places within that large area that have no parish of their own. If you could zoom in and post a clearer copy of the section mentioning Coventry and H...ley it might help. I'm not 100% convinced it says Coventry. Those with access to ancestry sources may be more helpful.

It could be that the smudge on the parish name is deliberate, see image. If you have a Ancestry account, the results may be more relevant if you use "William Bazely, baptism, 15 March 1788, Father William, Mother Elizabeth." Larger parish doc for clarity.

Very likely, I did a bit of searching and he has a brother John. They are both on the same baptism document and on a public 'tree' on Ancestry.

Joni, since Haseley is a very small place and difficult to separate from Hatton, following the church St Mary the Virgin, Haseley, might elicit more information about the place and your relatives. Google it and you should get several links including a FB page.

Hi Joni. This is Harbury 1787, there is also a christening with the same parents in Warwick, 15th March 1788.

We "married" into some in the 60s, but they were from Keresley and include the electrical contractors of wartime fame (who changed the spelling) and a shortage of males for our generation.
