While remembering most of the mentioned programmes, I have to say my favourites are a little more recent.
Top of the list is Only Fools & Horses added to this are Fawlty Towers, Dads Army, Open All Hours and Porridge. Mick Strong

The Billy Cotton Band Show on Sunday afternoons - I enjoyed it even though there must have been around sixty years difference between my age and theirs! I suspect that's where my love of 20s, 30s and 40s music came from.
As a kid I used to detest this programe. The intro music meant my sister and I had to get ready for Sunday School so mum and dad could have 90 minutes respite from us. I didn't mind Sunday school per se. It was the riotous behaviour of all the other kids which was upsetting. If they had acted like that at home, they would have been given a good leathering. I felt so sorry for the teachers. Basically it was a free baby sitting service.

It's been 40 degs here again this week which reminded me of a favourite show I used to find very funny - It Ain't Half Hot Mum. Judging by what they are repeatedly showing here these days, that show would be a vast improvement. |

Hi, Dreamtime, that is a bit hot! Apparently BBC have decided not to rerun that show, for some reason! We have a couple of channels over here that show some good old series and films. Talking Pictures (which was started by a man in his shed) shows a lot of old series and some wonderful old films, some going back to 40's black and white, it is quite interesting spotting young actors who are still on now. Also Forces TV which have a good selection of old comedies which as you said about IAHHM are far better than today's. We spend most of our evening watching old stuff. We are way back in old Heartbeats at the moment, so far back that Greengrass is still in them. |

Can't get Forces TV down here, just occasionally with patchy reception. |

When I cancelled Sky I kept the box and enjoy the extra channels. I've enjoyed a few series on Forces TV including Sapphire and Steel, The Piglet Files, and Goodnight Sweetheart. |

I just wonder if when we sign in or out, that we do it with a movie.
Good night all.
On the other hand, oh I'm silly, oh so silly.
Good night. |

While I liked Brian and Ermintrude, I thought Dougal was a bit of a bully. I was more of a Clangers fan. |

Soup of course. As a child it was home made split yellow pea soup but now I prefer my own vegetable soup. Less gloupy and doesn't take as long to make. My petit pois and ham soup's darned good too. If I do say so myself - dragon. |

I have caught sight of the Clangers now and again as they have been shown here too. As I am a bit of a knitter I love their little outfits.
I think you have mentioned them before Helen.

I seem to remember that all the Clangers were pink. You could tell who was who by their outfits. The girls wore felt Roman armour like tunics and the boys wore metal. They had a letter on the front for their name. The 'voice' artists had scripts to work to which apparently had a lot of swearing. It was a very British series. My second favourite series was Noggin the Nog and I think that was made by the same team. |
