Hi all, I am trying to find out some information on the untimely death of my great-grandfather, WIlliam Henry Dingley (Jun 1907 - Jan 1938). He was the first husband of my great-grandma, Annie Elizabeth Smith (Feb 1905 - Aug 2001). The story through the family is that there was an accident involving William and a coal delivery truck. Another man was killed in the accident instantly, I do not know who this was. William died later at Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital (27 Jan 1938). I have trawled through online newspapers to find out more about the accident but have been unable to. My grant aunt (William's daughter) is quite elderly now but would like to know more about what happened. At the time of the accident, the family were all living at 46 Roundhouse Road, Stoke Aldermoor. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find out more information? Perhaps in the newspaper or from Coal Board records? Thank you in advance!

Oh wow, thank you so so much. I really appreciate your expertise and speedy response, This is really fascinating, we have learnt so much. Ann Elizabeth, his wife, did go on marry again and have another child. She lived until 2001 (aged 96), and never moved from 46 Roundhouse Road. In fact her only living daughter still lives on the same road now! Thank you again, such a treat to read this! Leanne x

Just to clarify, when I said 'treat to read' it is clearly not a nice read but 'a treat' in that it tells us new information that has always been speculation previously!

Don't worry, we know what you mean. It feels wrong to celebrate finding something out about someone's death but I look at it this way - they are not forgotten. You care enough to go looking.
