Outside the Greyfriars block of apartments, on the corner of Greyfriars Road and Queen Victoria Road, is this sign. At first, I assumed they were all famous female Coventrians - but now I'm not so sure.
Can sks help with the identity of the first three?

There was a Charles Bray, ribbon manufacturer whose wife was Caroline (Cara). Humanists - the Rosehill Circle. Friends of George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans).

There is a Countess of Coventry but is that relevant?
Victoria Derbyshire - presenter
Pearl Hyde - mayor
Billie Whitelaw - actress
Angela Brazil - socialite and author
I'd never have worked out that the names were famous women connected to Coventry. Well done MR! |

Ah yes Rob, that sounds much more plausible. Radiophonic Workshop, without which The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy would have been a lot less colourful. |
