Which set me wondering if I have a favourite street and it wasn't an easy decision. Most of the old streets have sections or features that draw me. However my favourite would have to be Bayley Lane. At some point you'd have been able to see the castle, St Mary's cathedral, the Bishop's Palace, the Great Drapery and maybe even Godiva and Leofric's hall. From it artists have captured Hay Lane, Pepper Lane, Cuckoo Lane, Half Moon Lane, Earl Street and Jordan Well. It had a mix of 2 and 3 storey timber buildings with finely carved decorations, documented by multiple artists including Augustus Pugin. St Mary's Hall and St Michael's still survive, albeit damaged and finally it hosts the Herbert Art Gallery that holds many of the images of the city and nice people who help me extract them. Big grin So what's your favourite street (old or new)?

For me, it has to be Kirby Road, Earlsdon, the street I was born in!

Well it had to be, didn't it, MR? My mum ran a small grocery shop in King Richard Street, years before they ran the Navi. So many bikes rammed in those small front gardens till their owners poured out after the match. Must have been one of the 'good ol' days' folks talked about. Thumbs up

Thanks, Helen. I reckon I have found my 'Favourite Topic' (amongst others, of course). I hope there will be more to read on here. Smile

You probably know mine already, Helen! I love Silver Street/Vicar Lane/Market Street/Derby Lane and the Butcher Row area. But all old Cov was fascinating.

Silver Street has to crop up eventually in the photographic record. Lol It took me 24hrs to narrow the list down, Neil. Wink A street few people would think of, that is a favourite of mine, is Well Street. Most of the south side was captured by artists while it was still ornate timber buildings. Spon Street was great but pipped by Gosford Street. Both retained buildings, even after the war but many more before it to be recorded by photography.

I forgot to add Earl Street, but there are probably a lot more I could include!
