Zoom out a few times to see 13 Union Street
Hi alfiec, the point of the red spot is number 13. It is labelled as a dwelling in 1897.
There was a smithy on the corner of Union Street and Greyfriars Lane. |

Number 13 looks like a dwelling but businesses could pop up very quickly.
I'm not finding any Browns so far on on Union Street. However there is a Miss Emma Jane Brown, private school in 1896 at 17 Hertford Terrace.

Hertford Terrace was a row of houses on Queens Road which became The Butts. On which there was a similar stretch of properties called Union Terrace. I'll look into that. |

Emma Jane Brown appears in the 1901 census, aged 43, so... not her |

In 1875 there's a Henry Brown auctioneer at number 19 Hertford Terrace. At the same time there's a John B Brown at number 7.
Anne is the people expert I'm out of threads. |

In the 1874 directory there is a Henry Brown at 8 Union Street.
If Emma was born around 1872 then he may have been related.

Sadly, the Henry Brown above wasn't at no.8 in the 1871 census.
However, at no.21 was Wm. Henry Brown, 47, watch dial painter, b.Ireland, and his family. Wife was Emma, age 41, two sons and one daughter, Harriett Ruth. No sign of Emma from 1872
I assume the o.p. has checked all the available censuses |
