Interesting.... judging by the image I have in the collection, it seems that more than one "crop" was taken from a larger image. Forum image

Oh, how I love these 'oldies'. I look for the clocks and imagine being on the street at that time. Watching people out there all going about their daily lives. Then I wonder what I would have been doing, looking for a shoe shop most likely. Thank you for sharing everyone. Double thumbs up

This is possibly the best shot I've seen of the 'new' island showing the cathedral plan layout for the surround. I've still not seen any evidence to reference that's what it was as it doesn't match St Michael's plan, but it has to be some sort of representation.

Very dramatic that one, Neil. The times I have waited for a bus this side and wondered what time of the day a mower man would arrive to cut the grass. Imagine with all the traffic driving around. I know not everyone would agree with me but I think Broadgate held more charm then than all the paving we see now.

I have stood in your shoes, Dreamtime, (most likely stilettos with pointed toes), waiting for the 16 home or the 2 to work, and I agree, it was far nicer then. Last time I went, which is a few years now, it was just a big square of nothing.

Hi to you both. I walked across the big nothing this morning, that's about the best description too. For many elderly or infirm folk, it's too big. Our local wireless, you know the squeaky thing with knobs but no picture, often have open discussions about attracting more shoppers. Where are they all? There was no shortage of them at the Arena shopping centre at 10am today. It's so convenient there, good public transport access including the train. I expect all of the other shopping centres were the same. From the nearest bus access in Trinity Street, it's mostly uphill, so why should folk pay a fortune to park, to buy no more than what they can buy at the more convenient shopping malls. I went with a friend who was collecting a pre-ordered book from Waterstones. I enjoyed the ride on the train from the Arena, then a very frequent bus service that stops near to the Council House. For anyone with mobility issues, that was still quite a walk to the centre of the main precinct.

Oh what a loss to Coventry, Dream, even though I only knew it in ruin! Cathedral is my greatest regret.
