Yes, filmed on a very dull and drizzly early Saturday morning so that would explain the lack of brightness. In terms of the area, well we'll agree to differ Smile Was a very dull, drab grey area that was usually covered in bird mess & after the Britannia Hotel one of the biggest eyesores in town in my honest opinion. Will be interesting to see how the pigeons get on with the new plants Big grin

I don't think we entirely disagree. Cleaning isn't a matter of yes or no, it's always a good thing and a new paint scheme is refreshing but is that design good enough? Often these designs come with a price tag that could see two or three future clean ups but is blown on one. The pigeons will love the nesting spaces and carry on as before.

A video documenting the herculean effort of the workers to complete the ground works for the Upper Precinct on 4 June. I filmed in the morning, afternoon and evening. It is finished and ready for "Coventry Moves" - the opening and flagship event for our reign as UK City of Culture. It was interesting chatting to one those responsible for the precinct redevelopment today. He said it wouldn't have been possible without funding that has come in because we are City of Culture. High grade materials have been used throughout. Stone from Portugal etc. The design incorporated nods to ribbon weaving and watchmaking. The rest of the precinct should be finished in the next couple of weeks. Water features in the Upper Precinct are meant to be on today (5 June) with the main fountain at the Precinct crossroads due to be turned on in a few weeks. Thumbs up

A video from this morning (9 June 2021) ... finally got to see Zara's water feature working. It's brilliant.

They seriously need to hire you for the tourist board. It's looking great, especially the White Lion Hotel mosaic. My favourite has to be the fountain. I'm looking forward to seeing the Precinct, even if the list of events are failing to stir me, so far. Thumbs up
