Patsy Powell lived in King Edward Road, Hillfields, the next street over from us. It was a source of amazement to my family when she began performing in public in the late sixties or early seventies. I don't think I ever saw/heard her perform but I have a dim mental picture of her in a fringed waistcoat - perhaps she did Country and Western? Anyone else remember her?

Blimey! Just googled her - she was quite well known in country music circles, which I've never moved in, obviously! People sell her records on ebay!

Don't have any memories of her at all Primrose. I did get married and leave Hillfields in 1964 so maybe that's why! Will ask my large family if they remember her. Thumbs up Wave

I don't remember ever seeing her Primrose. Like Jan I left Coronation Road in 1964, but I do remember once whilst visiting 'home' hearing someone in the house at the back of ours singing. Dad said it was Patsy, she must have been rehearsing. Wave

I knew Patsy, she lived in Freehold Street, not far from King Edward Road, she was either owner or ran a launderette in or near Primrose Hill St. I was a child when I met her, her daughter went to the same school as me. She was a bit of a celebrity within the Irish community, playing country music in the Coventry area ie The Tree Tops in Foleshill Road.

I remember Patsy Powell and the Honky-Tonk Playboys well, as I used to go to listen to them on a monthly basis at a pub somewhere in Longford. Her moment of fame was when she toured with Slim Whitman in the U.K. in the 60s. She recorded three of the old style L.P.s, which are still available on Ebay. Well worth a listen.

Patsy Powell, did she come to live in Tyrone/Armagh? I found some of her music, she appeared to do well in the music, with some famous connections.
