Hi, I have looked in what I have and, in 1911 there is a Miss A. COLLINGRIDGE 1921, Misses COLLINGRIDGE, the directory does make the distinction between Miss, Misses and Mrs. 1926, Misses COLLINGRIDGE 1935, Ada COLLINGRIDGE 1937, Ada COLLINGRIDGE, and it would be remiss to leave out 1937, B COLLINGBRIDGE, 36 Lawrence Saunders Road 1953, Granville C COLLINS 1955, Granville C COLLINS. There aren't any other COLLINGRIDGE's in any of the directories. From FreeBMD it appears Ada died in Warwick aged 88 in 1945. Thumbs up

Oh, this is lovely. You have just picked up me dad. I was hoping it would show what year he was first there, it's got to be the 40s. Granville is my dad. Big grin

Thanks MR. No, I did not know the exact address. My parents were caught out on the night of the blitz, the next day they no longer lived in Coventry but in the country. Thumbs up

Cheers MR, I didn't know the number, my gran moved on to live in Swan Lane but my dad found a dilapidated farmers cottage in the country, where they stayed for the duration of the war. Thumbs up

Thanks Heathite, he was married to my mum's sister. My gran put everyone up when they got married. They were there waiting for a house to be built in Allesley Park but the less said about him the better. Wink

Well, as I have my own topic I will elaborate. On the night of the blitz my mum and dad spent a night in a shelter. When the all clear was sounded he took my mum home and managed to get out of Cov, he ended up near Wolvey before he spotted a run down cottage down a back lane. Finding the farmer, who could not rent it out because of the state of it, they came to an agreement that if my dad could get it habitable he could have it at a peppercorn rent. He didn't know my dad. Returning back to Cov along the Walsgrave Road, he was stopped by the police as no one was to be allowed into Cov. They did not believe that he had survived the blitz, driven out of Cov, found somewhere to live and was trying to get back so early in the morning. He talked his way round them and then collected my mum. I know on that day it wasn't really habitable but it was clean. Running water, waste disposal, leaks in roof etc all came later but safety was first. Bless my dad. Smile
