The foundation stone for St Mark's Church was laid on 5 May 1868 and the church was consecrated the following year. It was damaged by bombing at Easter 1941, but was repaired and reopened for worship in 1946. In 1963 the East Window of the church was taken down and replaced by a 35ft mural painted over the altar in 1969. The church closed in 1972, and the organ, new in 1947, was transferred to St Martin's in the Field Church, Green Lane. The building was used as an outpatients department of Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital until 2006
