Almost certainly Dutchman. Everyone I know called the Barras House the Bolshi. I think it's gone now. Cheers

Along with the old Stoke Heath Junior school, next to it, it has gone and is now covered in flats and houses.

Lol, never knew the Barras was called the Bolshi. My mate used to live in Pinners Croft and I used the Heath to repair my car on (Ford Pop). Didn't drink much but fancied one after working on the car and bought my first pint in the Barras when I was 17, 1965. Also the Morris common which I used to run round between 2-4 times in training for cross country runs for Freddie's. It is the only common I know up there that is why I asked for where it was situated. Thumbs up

The "Bolshi" was always known by that name in the 1930's. I have always understood that it got that name from its popularity with the Bolsheviks (which later became the communist party I believe) that used to meet there to discuss their politics. Oh my Alan
