Hi matchle55. I have just checked on DVLA and my grandparents Riley PHP962 which I have posted about on here before was taxed again in May. Perhaps you could keep your eyes out for me to see if it appears at the rally. I believe it is now red. I have some nice pictures of the original vehicle if you do come across the present owner. It was nice to see it was still on the road! |

Thank you for jumping in MR. That is interesting. Like it the old colour best though. I will post a message on that site. As I said someone has taxed it so it is back on the road. |

An update on the car. The Riley RM club have tracked the car and the owner for me. It now lives in Winchester. The club have forwarded the owner the pictures I had of the original vehicle. |

Thanks for this Cliff - some familiar people, places and cars here.
The Lynx Drophead DUR482 is now owned by a friend of mine, this car was given a gearbox rebuild last year by local members of the Riley Register, myself included.
As the owner has several Rileys we have persuaded him to let us build his Riley Brooklands which has lain in pieces for 50 years (see a similar car WD3648 amongst the pics).
The Brooklands model was introduced in 1929 so we are making a special effort to get the car to Wroxall Abbey for the Riley rally as this year the Brooklands is the highlighted model.
Most Brooklands models have had a competition history but although we would like to think so its past history is unclear.
Recently one went for $230,000 at auction in America, it had been shown at Pebble Beach which gives some idea of its condition.
The Riley Kestrel AWA204 is still owned by my good friend Graham Bosworth.
For those with an interest the Riley rally is at Wroxall Abbey over the weekend of 29/30 June.

The replica car is, hopefully, going to be unveiled at a select event at the motor museum on November 6th. I am fortunate to have had an invite |

I have a feeling that the Roger Medwell in the interview was a member of Godiva Harriers back in the 1960s.True Blue Coventry Kid

A group of three Riley clubs - The Riley Register, The Riley Motor Club and the RM Club - have formed the "RAP", Riley Archive Project, with a view to storing and cataloguing documents, engineering drawings, etc, etc that they have accumulated over the years.
With Riley's birthplace in the city the RAP have managed to obtain use of no.8 at the canal basin for storage and gallery and as a drop in centre for those with an interest, open days to be decided, and it will be staffed by local members.
I mentioned recently that a replica of Percy Riley's first car will be unveiled on November 6th at the Motor Museum, after that it will be taken to the NEC to be exhibited on the Riley Motor Club stand for three days.
Percy was a pupil of King Henry VIII at the time he built the car - his nephew Victor Riley, our patron, is hoping to take the car to the school for a photo shoot, this has yet to be confirmed. |

That's really exciting news, Vaughan - thanks for the info.
I'll try and get over to Coventry to see the replica. |
