Thank you all for these wonderful pictures! Smile I have spent many hours walking there - such a pity it got chopped in half by the road.

Yes, it is, if they are nationally listed, but not if they are locally listed. 'Local listing' has no legal status, and does not stop a building being neglected or demolished, though planning officers will take it into account if a planning application is submitted which affects the building in question.

I'm a bit late to the thread I know but this lane was always a favourite haunt of mine when I were a lad in the mid 60s. However, some wag felt-tipped a dot between the T and the A on the road sign so we always referred to it as 'Saint Aircase Lane'.

Hello, I do not have any additional information about the quarry however my curiosity got the better of me and I went and took a walk into the old quarry. Its quite overgrown as you would expect and slowly gets deeper the further you go in. It you walk along the outer perimeter there is a steep drop but its quite a serene place down there.
