Official wartime statistics were released on this day giving details of Coventry's air raids. They showed that in the first concentrated attack on the night of November 14-15th 1940, the Luftwaffe, in 12 hours, dropped 1,200 high explosives, approximately 50,000 incendiaries and 50 parachute mines, this being the first known occasion that parachute mines were used against Britain. People known to have been killed in all raids on the city totalled 1,252, while 1,859 were injured. |
