Elaine Frances Burton

As the General Election is almost upon us, I thought members would like to read about a former Coventry MP for Coventry (South). I came across the lady as part of my athletic researches. She was noted in athletics for [reputedly] being the first female to wear shorts and use running spikes. Elaine Burton served from 1950 to 1959, being elevated to the peerage in 1962, becoming Baroness Burton of Coventry. A useful tag to search for is 'Elaine Frances Burton's Travel Album' here
