There were two bombs, one in the cycle carrier, another dislodged by the explosion from its hiding place on the clock above the jeweller's shop.

^^^That's an amazingly detailed picture Kaga, especially considering its age and the media it was originally printed on. Oh my

I have just received a notification from the Council to say that a memorial stone will be unveiled on the Unity Lawn at Coventry Cathedral at 2:00pm, Wednesday 14th October. A white rose will be laid on the memorial stone by a representative of each of the victims to honour their memory. The Very Reverend John Witcombe, Dean of Coventry and the Lord Mayor of the City of Coventry, Councillor Michael Hammon will also lay a rose as a mark of respect.

That's the first mention I've heard of a second bomb. Did it explode or was it recovered?

Question

I hadn't heard of a second bomb either. How on earth was it placed in a clock at least 8-10ft off the ground?

A very logical explanation Kaga thank you. Dutchman, is my memory playing tricks on me or was there such a clock in the Burges? It's got so that when an old picture of the city centre is shown I look for a clock.

TonyS, normally you put the clock in the bomb, but being Irish? The report said the second bomb was dislodged by the explosion from it's hiding place on a clock outside a jeweller's shop
