Rob has this shot which I believe shows Paradise Street from the changing London Road. An interesting article on FB showing its final days.

Interesting.
The Salutation Inn on the London Road I thought was named as a 'Welcome to Coventry' to many a weary pedestrian and others. There was once a windmill on a knob of ground, and then called the hilly-hollow, (close to the cemetery gates) and which was common ground or open land. The road before the house on the corner of Brick Kiln Lane was at one time the Dog and Gun. |

The Salutation Inn is where my great great grandfather started to learn his trade as a publican. He ran that initially then moved on to the Old Brook Tavern which became the Railway Hotel - then a break before taking on the Turks Head for several years. |

I went to Paradise Street School from 1946-50 and lived in Coventry for 28 years and never knew there were two Paradise Streets. Are there any photo's of Paradise School around? |
