Another good find Morgana
That's a view from the Coundon side of the Holyhead Road with St John's church in the centre and a considerable amount of artistic licence

I was once told, believe at school, that Coventry long ago was once an island by three rivers in a triangle shape, never thought about it since, until this topic, views please, kaga. |

When I was a child and walked to Freddies School there was a little river/stream which flowed along the back of the houses in King Edward Road and was visible in Jesmond Rd(?) just off Harnall Lane. Could this have been the River Sherbourne? |

Thanks Philip
It was a clean little stream with sticklebacks and some of it in King Edward Road ran through their gardens. |

I received this information yesterday from a Councillor - which now appears to add a time-frame to the project.
"The City Council has been successful with a bid for European Regional Development Fund to develop a section of the River Sherbourne behind The Burges, adjacent to Palmer Lane. The project called 'The River Quarter' includes the de-culverting of the river that will contribute to water quality improvements and amenity value. The timescale for the completion of the construction is by October 2015. It is hoped that this will lead to other opportunities to open up further sections of the river in the City Centre." |
