Does anyone know who holds the keys to the gate at St Catherines well in Beaumont Crescent, Coundon? I have climbed over the fence in the past, but I want to show my kids around it.

Hi Jason, I've heard it suggested that maintenance or security department at the Council House might have keys to those gates. But if they can't help..... is your family any good at pole vaulting??? Smile

Took my wife down to show her this little gem today - she's not from Coventry. I was very disappointed to see the condition it has been allowed to fall into. It looks to be in urgent need of some restoration work. Sad

Hi all Walking along Beaumont Crescent today, I noticed a fenced off section which contained a set of steps leading to a raised area, upon which stood a small, brick built building with a pitched roof. There was no visible plaque and I've looked on Google maps, but can't find any information on it. Can anyone help? Thanks, Andy

Went to have a look round St Catherine's Well today (part of the heritage weekend), have wanted to look around for ages but it's very rarely open. For those interested it's still open today until 4pm and is open tomorrow (16 Sep 2018) 11am to 4pm. Thumbs up

Fascinating - all the years I went to school there (Moseley), I never knew of its existence until many years later when an old Coventrian told me about it.

I didn't clock the orientation of the well before now. I don't think the platform can be original as the early images just show it on a lumpy hillside. I suppose it may have been buried? Or maybe they built it when they levelled the area for building.
