William Williamson

Hi all William Williamson, my great uncle, in 1902 was MD of Rex Motor Cycles, in 1911 he started Williamson Motor Company and produced the Williamson flat twin - any information or decendants?

According to this source the Williamson Motor Co produced three-wheelers between 1913 and 1916. Their address was 77 Moor St which still exists, though not sure if this is the same building. This address was also used by Allard between 1899 and 1902, and later was used by Clarendon.

Could this be him?

Thanks for the 1921 list, Heathite - it's full of relations (sadly, nothing new to add to my tree, but nice to see them all the same!) Annie Catherine (actually Catherine Annie), my great grandmother Leonard William, my grandfather Elizabeth, great grand-aunt Herbert and John, great grand-uncles Sidney, 1st cousin twice removed I've tracked all my male Williamsons from the start of the 19th century, and sadly there's no link to the William, subject of this thread

I'm sure you will have this M R, but as you can see from the image taken from Spennell's 1912 directory They have Catherine/Annie spelt with a 'K', probably the very same person since the address tallies.

The Marques of Coventry book says "The Williamson three-wheeler had an 8hp two-cylinder Douglas Engine with a chain drive to the single rear wheel. Fitted with a 2 seater body, it was similar in appearance to contemporary Morgans. The war interrupted all Williamson production and car-building did not resume when peace returned. However the firm's motorcycles would remain on the market until around 1920"

Hi all, Found information about William Williamson's family from this website (www.gracesguide.co.uk) - from this I found his burial record and located his grave. It's in the Old part of the London Road Cemetery (North Section) - [Square 23/26, Grave 2 (just opposite the main entrance to the Anglican Chapel)]. The Memorial Inscription reads: "In loving memory of William (Billy) Williamson who died Mar 31st 1920 aged 48 years. Also of Laura Lillie wife of the above who died Nov 12 1922 aged 40 years. Also Dora Catherine first wife of William Williamson died Jan 2nd 1915 aged 38 years." According to the burial record William and Dora Catherine Williamson died at Cromwell House, Earlsdon Avenue, Coventry, while Laura Lillie Williamson died at 22 St Andrews Road, Coventry. This Wikipedia page about the Williamson Flat Twin suggests that William Williamson passed away due to a heart attack after only 20 motorcycles were produced.
