This topic has me asking the question of, do children still get pocket money?

I had 2 shillings and 6d pocket money at age 10 and thought I was so wealthy! Dad gave me this from his money-bag he used for collecting from his customers. He and my grandfather had a milk delivery business which they operated from 77 Berkeley Road, Earlsdon (Minton's milk). They purchased the bottles of milk from Gulson Road dairy. With my pocket money I purchased a little plastic horse which walks along if placed on a slant and I still have this horse! It intrigued my son (now age 56), and is still loved by my grown up grandchildren! Unfortunately it has lost its little felt ears but is still much loved!

Welcome Pamela, and thank you so much for sharing your wonderful memories. Two and a half shillings must have seemed an awful lot to a ten year old back then! And how lovely that you still have that toy horse - I wish I still had some early toys to show our children. If you have any more to tell us about your dad and granddad's delivery business, we'd all love to hear more.

Very similar - different colour. I will send a photo but I am waiting for my granddaughter to come to show me how to do this!!

Thank you 'Dreamtime' ! My youngest granddaughter is so interested in our family history. She is nearly 21 and at Uni in Brighton. It is so important to keep family history alive. I have cousins in Melbourne but have lost touch a bit.
