Hi, can anybody help me please? The City Press was located at 108, Cox St. Was this bombed out during the blitz or did the place close down after the war? I can find nothing about the place although i only lived around the corner.

According to planning records, No 108 (on the corner of Wheatley Street) survived the war and was used as a dance school/nightclub/restaurant owned by a Mr Keith Herbert Jones.

Hi My dad was bound apprentice to Caldicott and Feltham, of Ironmonger Row, in 1927. In that year, A.E. Feltham published "Coventry Past and Passing", by subscription only. My dad bound (or helped to bind) at least some of the copies. He had a special copy himself, bound in cream velum, which I loved to read as a child. Unfortunately, I lost touch with it after my marriage broke up in 1987, but I have recently acquired another copy in very good condition.

I was given a copy for my birthday last December. Subscription copy 255. Compiled by A.E. Feltham & produced by Calcott & Feltham, The City Press, Ironmonger Row, in 1927. It was priced at £90 ref 60880 from The Used Bookstore, Nuneaton. The last owner was Evan O.C. Howells, Haynestone, Kenilworth. I wondered if this was the only Coventry book C & F put together? I love all books on Coventry & do have quite an extensive collection, which I am just in the process of cataloguing & always on the lookout for more. Simone

Thread not updated for a while but as its recently appeared on FB. I think it's No.108 not 128 as on the Library Pics, Rob.

By you bringing this topic pic back you have just answered an old question. Keith's was the dance hall I think for teaching and Andersons warehouse was on the opposing corner (the old malt house building). I never realised until now that Wheatley St ran across Cox St. Thanks, Neil Thumbs up

Keith Jones Dance Studio in the early 50's, I used to go there. We had different partners every week, and Fred Astaires they were not! Lol Lol
