This put the area in great poverty and on the breadline. They removed the railway lines from Deedmore Road just to Aldermans Green Road, leaving the remaining lines running through the fields - this puzzled the locals for a time, but they were going to feed the Power Station by coal train. The Power Station would bring work into the area, I believe there was recruiting for workers on that day, so yes there was a large jubilant attendance.
