I think the Rossborough mentioned above was Mike, not Tony. He stayed with the firm when they became Booker and eventually ended up where I work, an IT company. He retired a couple of years ago.

On 5th Jan 2016 6:15pm, Slash1 said: ... dented tin sales.
It went on to become a permanent fixture when they opened a staff "shop"! It was run by a lady (apologies, can't recall her name) from the warehouse whose job it was to repackage damaged items. If one of a case of a dozen tins became damaged she would repack the case and insert a "credit" note for the single tin. The shopkeeper was then supposed to return this voucher for a credit! Disorganised1: The 'Rossborough' that worked at Laxons while I was there was most definitely called Tony (or Anthony?) - and was the 'spitting image' of Peter. Very strange.

Peter Rossborough was at Henry's and had left by the time I started there, but he had a younger brother who was in the year below me, can't remember his name.

Hi again, remember those names, here some I can think of. Vic Grundy, Tom Ward ( his daughter Davina I think), Ken Ackerman, Roger Grier, Tom Ledley, Bob Gaskins and his son Bob, Josie and Paul Whitmore, Pauline Defay (control office), Doreen (canteen), Nancy done the repacking, John Day, Irene Green (checker), Roy Fellows (dock). Sadly here are some great people no longer with us, Graham George, Roger Horsley, Barry Hill, Stan Williams, Sid the cleaner (used to hide all empty beer cans in the small toilet by the inwards), Fred Mobbs, sadly collapsed and died in the warehouse I used to go fishing with Len Booth (the general) and Steve Walker, still see Geoff have a drink and bingo every Friday.

Wow, thanks for your list, I remember all but one of those. So sad to hear of the ones no longer with us. Sad Is Geoff retired now? (and still living in the same place?) I must knock his door one of these days - but I won't tell him which one in case he decides to be out!!

Hi, I think you will find that that would have been Legal & General. I had a letter from them about 12 months ago with the numbers relating to a pension that was set up back in the 70/80's. Haven't got a clue how they found me! I'll try and look out some contact details for you tomorrow Thumbs up

Hi Bob, I have emailed details to you of the pension scheme. I hope it's the one you are looking for and you manage to sort it out. Should any other ex-employee also need these details please use the 'Contact button' over on the left to get in touch.

I worked in the computer room about 72. I remember Ben Tasker, Brian Pugh, an Engineer called Brian, a programmer called Dale, another programmer with very long legs called Brenda. When it got really boring on nights, we loaded the fire extinguishers with wet paper towels and ambushed each other. There was a woman called Mavis from the offices who dished out the discounted bacon joints. Enjoyed working there for about a year until I moved on.

Think that this subject has been mentioned before. I joined the company from school, August 1959, when the site was in Gas Street (no longer in existence, I believe). I loved my work there, was very happy, but for some reason that I do not fully comprehend, after about 15 months, decided to leave and join the Royal Navy. I can only suspect that it may have been to do with a young lady. Never 100% sure. As I understand it, a few years later, it moved to Charter Avenue. Can anyone please tell me, how long it existed there for. Many thanks.
