I was going to say, that looks like County Hall in the background, so it must be around 22 Bayley Lane
And when I come to post that, as a response to your posting, I see that your photo is called "Baz_Bayley_Lane.jpg"!
(You'll have to do better than that, Baz) |

Where am I? part 2.
The building is offset from the stairs and walls. And yes, it is in Coventry...
Always looking forward to looking at the past.

St Catherines's Well is another little gem tucked away that very few people seem aware of. Admittedly it is not very exciting but being surrounded by the locked metal fence (presumably to prevent vandalism) does not help. |

Thanks everyone. It is in Beaumont Crescent. I knew I had seen this before somewhere on this site. But for the love of me, could not remember where. Philip seems to have a better memory than me. Thanks again.
Always looking forward to looking at the past.

Hi Baz,
My memory! Let's just say, please never rely on my memory. I happen to have my own pic of the well, only because I read about it on here. I have to use my bus pass to remind me who I am sometimes. I tell you something else. Whatever I did, or didn't know about Coventry before, most of it now has come from our history site during the last three years of my membership. It is so good on here & made all the better by the contributions that you & the members make. Please carry on. We are learning all of the time. |

The well supplied Spon End with water via a conduit at one time, hence 'Conduit Yard'.

Strange building that may have had a use before what it is now. But where and what was it? (if any history turns up, should be quite good)
The green doors seem very big for what it is used for today.
Always looking forward to looking at the past.

I think it's one of many electricity sub-stations built in the days when the city council supplied all the city's power needs. I don't know where that particular one is but there's a near identical one in Abercorn Road which has been bricked-up and unused since a more modern station was built alongside.
I always thought it would make a wonderful flats conversion.

Is it on Gulson Road, up at the top near Binley Road? Definitely an interesting building for conversion.

I think that it is by the old offices of Renold Chain by Spon End Arches. A memorial to the workers who died in the war. |

I think Flapdoodle is right, I go past that building every week at the top of Gulson Rd by Gosford Green. It is on your right by the traffic lights. There again, looking at dutchman's pic, there might be many more of them. You can see like gantries thro the windows, often thought I would like a walk round the inside. |
