28th Aug 2006 David Tennant and Freema Agyeman are filmed at Ford's Hospital for a BBC Doctor Who episode. We were actually lucky enough to find out about this event in time, and were present around 6pm when David Tennant and Freema Agyeman arrived together in a silver Mercedes. We hung around for an hour or so while they did some preliminary walk throughs and rehearsals, but didn't stay until the early hours (like some apparently did!) when the actual filming took place.

82 years ago today, on 30th August 1935, Coventry-born speedway rider Tom Farndon died in hospital from injuries sustained in a crash at New Cross two days earlier. It brought to an end a career which began with Tom wheeling his motor bike from his home in Adelaide Street to Lythalls Lane to take part in the "new sport" which had just taken off in this country. He is remembered as, perhaps, the greatest speedway rider of all time, and his memorial in St Paul's Cemetery, Holbrook Lane, is very well-known.
