I'll try and make it Rob!

Hi everyone, Ruth Cherrington has released a revamped and expanded edition of her super "Dirty Stop Out's Guide to 1970s Coventry", and she invites us to the launch on Saturday, where she'll do a talk followed by a selling/signing session - and good catch-up with us all, of course! It's at Drapers' Hall, (in Rosie's Retro Bazaar) at 12 noon, this Saturday, 25th November. Normally, entry to that bar is £2 but if we say we're coming to the launch then it's free! Hopefully see you there! Edit: I've changed the date of this post to keep it as a reminder until just before the talk begins.

Fantastic meeting up with forum members this morning - with a couple of lovely surprises, too! Below is Ruth and her fab new revamped book, plus three of us who require little introduction - but the bonus for the morning was also getting to chat in person with members Mick Strong and Disorganised1. Super people, both, and I hope they'll consider joining the small band of us in two weeks' time for breakfast at Wetherspoon's.

Thanks for the intros. When I wandered into Wetherspoons, unannounced, a couple of years ago, I was able to identify Rob from his postage sized photo. We could only stay a short while but I hope to meet up again when I'm back home. Isn't it funny that no matter how long we've been away it's always home to us. I left the UK in 1979 but we've kept close to family and friends so there's instant rapport with them.

Look forward to hopefully meeting up next time Linda. It's telling how long I've been on the forum (and Old-Cov Photo-hunting!), that I'm greyer and more follicly challenged than on my profile piccy! That said, Mick knew who I was straight away purely from knowing my Dad some 25+ years ago!

It was really lovely to meet you in person! Thanks so much for coming. I really enjoyed the book launch because of the great people who came along! It was very friendly atmosphere, lots of good memories of Coventry shared and now documented. Hope to meet up again soon. Good luck with the archive work.
