There's an online archive of British newspapers. It can be accessed two ways. Either direct or through one of the ancestry sites. It's not cheap but it is very useful for searching for information (give or take iffy text scans). For a short targeted search, you can buy a single month's access. There was an article about your grandfather being fined for having an out of control dog. There are death notices for your father and grandfather. Finding stuff is a bit of an artform that Anne is the champion of. |

My grand parents were licensees at the Gas Tavern. Frank and Lizzie Jackson. Do you remember them?

Hi Robert. Since Frank died in Oct 1931, more than 90 years ago, it's not impossible that someone is alive who remembers him, but it's very unlikely. Lizzie died in Jun 1944, which is more recent but that's still almost 80 years, plus the age of the person who might have met them at the time.
You're suffering from my problem - I still feel like the 80s wasn't that long ago. |
