Hi all,
My dad will be 90 this year, and though his short term memory is not so good, his long term memory is excellent. He is a good story teller, and has sharp insight into the world as it was then. He was evacuated, was in Coventry for the Blitz, and walked into the city centre the morning after to see the destruction caused. He was also a Scout, a Rover and loved the cinema, dances and generally having a good time in his youth! He went away from Coventry for a while, (was in the Navy) and then back for a working life in the factories in Coventry.
I have one or two video's of his stories for our family records, but wondered if anyone wanted to meet with him / video or record him and his stories, before its too late?!
It would be good for him to do it and he'd really enjoy it too. I'm happy to transport him anywhere (we now live nearer to Rugby) so please let me know if anyone is interested.
Thanks
Cheryl |

Cherylt, how wonderful your dad reaching 90, I can only imagine the stories he has stored. I am sure I can speak for all of us to wish him well, good health, and good luck with the storytelling. |

It may be worth giving the BBC-CW local radio a call as they often record peoples memories of those times. They may not film them but certainly record audio of their recollections. They recorded a lot just prior to the 70th anniversary of the war and may well wish to add to their collection. Memories are certainly something none of us want to lose. |

I know the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum used to have an Oral history section, I assume they still have, maybe they would be interested as well. I presume it's part of the Local History section |
